Door wrapping in Singapore: what to check first
Consider surface condition, door type, frames and hardware before choosing a wrap.

Door wrapping should be assessed against the door’s condition, construction and function. A decorative film does not establish fire compliance or repair a warped door. Identify main, internal and shelter doors separately before requesting a quotation.
Start with the door type
Identify room doors, main doors and household shelter doors separately. Fire-rated and shelter doors require specific consideration; do not assume a cosmetic surface change is suitable without checking the door and applicable requirements.
Inspect function and condition
Check alignment, hinges, locks, swelling and damage. Wrapping changes the finish and does not repair a door that sticks or fails to close. Arrange repairs before agreeing a decorative treatment.
Include frames and both sides in the brief
A quote for one face differs from a quote including both faces, edges and the frame. Photograph the full opening and hardware. Discuss which parts are removed, protected or left in place.
Review a sample and edge plan
Compare finishes with adjacent walls and flooring. Ask how corners, existing profiles and joins will be finished. Confirm the scope, care and warranty in writing.
Make the door scope unambiguous
Number each door in your enquiry and photograph both faces, the frame, hinges and lock area. State whether the quotation should cover one face, both faces, the visible edges or the frame. Different coverage creates a different scope even when the finish code is identical.
- Check that the door closes and latches correctly before discussing the new finish.
- Tell the installer about existing damage, lifting paint or previous repairs.
- Ask how handles, closers, seals and labels will be protected and whether any removal is proposed.
- For a fire-rated or shelter door, obtain application-specific confirmation before any work.
Look at a physical sample beside the surrounding wall and floor. Discuss the grain direction and how it turns around the edges. At handover, compare the finished scope with your numbered list and check that the door and hardware still operate correctly.
