Lifting film does not establish one cause by itself. The base finish, contamination, preparation, edge detail, heat, moisture and use all need assessment. Document the location and contact the installer before pulling the film or applying glue.

Check the base before covering it

A decorative film depends on the surface beneath it. Loose paint, unstable laminate, contamination or damaged boards should be assessed before work starts. Covering a failing layer does not make that layer stable.

Preparation and edge finishing matter

Cleaning, compatible preparation and the installation method should suit the material and substrate. Ask the installer how corners, returns and joints will be handled. A full-room photo is useful for style, while close-ups reveal the finish.

Use the surface as specified

Moisture, heat, impact and unsuitable cleaning can affect a finish. Follow the selected product’s instructions and address leaks or abnormal heat exposure. Different applications may need different care.

If you notice lifting

Take photos, locate your job reference and contact the installer. Avoid pulling the film or applying an adhesive before assessment. Describe when the issue began and whether there has been moisture, heat or other damage nearby.

What to record before asking for help

Take one wide photo showing where the affected panel sits and a close-up showing the edge. Describe when you first noticed the change, whether it is spreading, and any nearby sink, kettle, hob or leak. Include the invoice or job reference and film code if available.

  • At a corner: show the adjoining faces and the turn around the edge.
  • Near a handle: show contact points and whether the hardware is loose.
  • On a flat area: show the wider panel as well as the lifted spot.
  • Near moisture: report swelling or a leak separately from the film finish.

These observations help a professional assess the problem; they are not a remote diagnosis or a determination of warranty coverage. Bodaq’s care instructions direct customers to the installer when peeling occurs. EnvisionWraps can review a concern against the project documents through the contact channels on our warranty page.
